Overview
A Dating Pregnancy Scan is an early pregnancy ultrasound used to confirm a pregnancy and accurately determine how far along the pregnancy is.
What it does
Confirms the pregnancy is inside the uterus
Measures the baby to calculate the gestational age and estimated due date
Checks for a heartbeat
Confirms whether it’s a single or multiple pregnancy
Helps rule out early concerns, such as ectopic pregnancy
Why it matters
Accurate dating is important for:

Important Preparation Information
To ensure clear imaging, a full bladder is required for this scan. Please begin drinking fluids 30–45 minutes before your appointment and avoid using the bathroom during this time.
No hospital records, referral, or GP notes are required for this scan.
